Ask about the DVD on the 25 year history of Lacebark and some of the selection process that has lead to the 'Whit' cultivars.

The Original Air Root Pruning Containers®, RootMakers®, as well as the patented inventions RootBuilder®, and the next generation of nursery containers--white, water-conserving, soft-sided RootTrappers® which produce plants with fibrous root systems to equip for transplant success are all the result of research conducted by Carl Whitcomb, Ph.D.

 http://www.impactmovie.com/rootmaker/

He created Lacebark Inc., a horticultural research company located near Stillwater, OK, in 1986. (Note: We do not sell crapemyrtle here; please check Patented Plants for nurseries that do.) His research also led to Micromax® micronutrient fertilizer and the patented new crapemyrtle: Dynamite®, Pink Velour®, Red Rocket®, Raspberry Sundae®, Tightwad Red®, Burgundy Cotton®, and Siren Red®, and the amazing flower shows from his new Play It Again® Collection, Rhapsody in Pink® and Double Feature® (Ask about the free 'Whit' crapemyrtle cultivars poster or oversized postcard to display for your customers.) He has a patented hardy hibiscus, Cranberry Punch® and the river birch, City Slicker®.   Lacebark Inc. also publishes Dr. Whitcomb's books: Know It and Grow It, Plant Production in Containers II, Production of Landscape Plants II, and Establishment and Maintenance of Landscape Plants II. "Beyond Expectations", his autobiography is now available for $10 (which includes shipping).

Besides continuing to develop new cultivars of other trees and shrubs, research also addresses nursery production methods in containers, the field, and transplanting into the landscape regarding water chemistry, nutrition, improved root systems, weed control, cover crops, and water conservation. Dr. Whitcomb also does consulting and speaking on a variety of topics, as time allows. Some of Dr. Whitcomb's activities can now be followed via the RootMaker Twitter account. (click icon top left.)

Dr. Carl Whitcomb was given the 2006 Henry A. Wallace Award from the Iowa State University College of Agriculture as an alumnus "who has made an outstanding contribution to national or international agriculture in writing, teaching, research, or leadership".
